Judge-Executive Gary W. Moore


In 1998, Gary Moore was elected Judge–Executive for Boone County, the highest elected office in county government. Boone County is the fourth largest and one of the fastest growing counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Judge Moore’s election followed a distinguished career in private business and public service.

Judge Moore grew up in Pendleton County, where his father served as Sheriff. Years of watching his father enforce the law and serve the needs of the County citizens instilled in him a belief in public service and community involvement.

Judge Moore currently serves as chair for the Tri–County Economic Development Corporation, a resource for business development throughout Northern Kentucky. He also serves on the executive committee of the Kentucky County Judges Association. He was elected as a board member of the National Association of Regional Councils and is past President of the OKI Regional Council of Governments which serves the eight county Greater Cincinnati region. Judge Moore is also a board member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Kentucky, Northern Kentucky University Foundation, St. Elizabeth Hospital Board and the Dan Beard Council of Boy Scouts. He has served as President of the Kentucky Jaycees and on the Board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and has provided leadership and service to many community groups including Catholic Social Services.

Gary’s wife, Joy, a former special education teacher, graduated from Chase College of Law and is an elected Judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Today, Gary and Joy live in the Pleasant Valley area of Boone County. Their two children, Scott and Brandi and their spouses and three grandchildren also reside in Boone County.
