Boards & Commissions

Boards & Commissions Process

Thank you for your interest in serving on a local Board or Commission.  Boone County's system of Boards and Commissions provides a way for the public to participate in the County’s decision making process.  The County believes it is not only the right, but also the responsibility of citizens to participate in planning for their future.

Serving on a Board or Commission can be a rewarding experience for community service minded residents.  It is an excellent way to participate in the functioning of local government and to make a personal contribution to the improvement of Boone County.

Currently there are more than 40 various boards and commissions in Boone County to which Judge/Executive Gary W. Moore has appointment authority.  All of the Judge/Executive’s appointment’s are subject to approval by the Fiscal Court.  There are currently over 200 residents serving in Boone County as executive appointments to Boards and Commissions.

The appointment process stays active year round with expiring terms turning over at various times throughout the year.  Recruitment is an ongoing process.  In an effort to meet the needs of the various boards and commissions the County reaches out to civic and community organizations, associations, and organizations for recommendations.

Judge Moore welcomes all Boone County residents to apply to serve on boards and commissions.  Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Once candidates are identified for a potential fit, vetted and interviewed, the Judge/Executive will make his final recommendation to the Court.   After the candidate or candidates are approved for appointment by the Fiscal Court, both the approved candidate and the board’s representative are contacted by phone or email.
