Boone County Fiscal Court Votes to Lower Tax Rate

At the August 27, 2019 Fiscal Court meeting, the Boone County Fiscal Court voted unanimously to lower the Real Property tax rate from 10.4 to 10.2 cents per $100 assessed value. This marks the ninth time in the last ten years where the Fiscal Court has voted to either lower real property tax rate or keep the rate the same.

Real property revenue supports a variety of county services such as law enforcement, public works, parks and recreation programs, animal control and other essential county services. In Fiscal Year 2019, real property tax rate provided 21% of the County’s total tax general fund revenue.

“Our disciplined spending and budgeting practices along with the County’s growing economic vitality allow us to stay committed to lowing tax rates when possible,” stated Judge/Executive Gary Moore.
