Birthday Bash; Upcoming Fiscal Court Meetings: What's Happening in Your Boone County

Here’s what’s been happening in Your Boone County. This issue includes:

  • Boone County’s 225th Anniversary Celebration is TODAY (June 1) from noon-10 p.m. at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
  • The next business meeting of the Boone County Fiscal Court will be Tuesday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m.
  • A caucus meeting of the Boone County Fiscal Court will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 3 p.m.
  • Don’t forget – our Tire Recycling Event is Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15.

Boone County 225th Anniversary: Saturday, June 1, 2024

Boone County is officially 225 years old today – Saturday, June 1. We’re celebrating with a daylong event at the Boone County Fairgrounds from noon-10 p.m. There will be something for everyone at today’s free event:

  • Live music
  • Historic demonstrations
  • Children’s activities
  • Touch-A-Truck
  • Fishing derby
  • Food trucks
  • Local vendors
  • Fireworks

Fiscal Court Meeting: Tuesday, June 4
The first regular business meeting of the Boone County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Boone County Administration Building (2950 Washington St, Burlington Ky 41005). The public is invited to attend in person or watch from home:

Several routine business matters are included on the agenda:

  • Presentations from the Boone County Planning Commission on two zoning map amendments.
  • Resolutions to hire seasonal staff and a full-time employee to serve as Human Resources Director.
  • Several appointments to local boards.
  • Resolutions awarding bids to several different vendors to support operations of several different departments including the golf courses, property maintenance and the Public Safety Communication Center.

Caucus Meeting: Thursday, June 6 at 3 p.m.
Just two days after the June 4 meeting, the Boone County Fiscal Court will meet once again for a caucus meeting on Thursday, June 6. The meeting will be held at the Boone County Administration Building at 3 p.m. The public is again invited to join us in the Fiscal Courtroom or watch from home:

Thursday’s Caucus Meeting will cover several important topics. However, no action will be taken on any issue. Caucus meetings offer the change for the members of the fiscal court to learn about several potential initiatives and discuss issues in depth. The agenda will include:

  • Public comment period.
  • Presentation and discussion related to medical cannabis.
  • Zoning legislative update including solar energy, battery storage and other zoning-related items from the recent Kentucky legislative session.
  • Presentation of the Boone County Planning Commission’s recommended Goals and Objects for Our Boone County 2045: Comprehensive Plan.

Tire Recycling Event: Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15
Got old tires? Bring them to Boone County Recycling Center (8275 Maplewood Drive, Burlington)! Boone County residents are invited to drop off old tires at the Recycling Center on Friday, June 14 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. – noon.
